Bronte, NSW
In the beachside enclave of Bronte in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, a house built in the early 1900s had been through several rounds of unsympathetic renovations — until Revel Design came on board. Now it’s a modern coastal haven full of lush texture, bright colour and playful personality.
The owners are a very busy and active family of five (mum, dad and three young children) and their brief was unusual… The clients showed Revel Design their favourite throw rug, featuring joyful colours in a cosy material, and asked for their new home to embody the blanket’s warm, fun vibe. They wanted a designer dwelling that was “clean, bright and playful” — but also resilient enough to withstand beachside family life and a love of entertaining. “It needed to be relaxing, welcoming and not precious — so if the kids bring their sandy mates back after nippers it’s not a big deal,” says the owner.
